Posting two entries (this and the previous "Caught Cheating!") at one go because these entries were typed out on my phone but I haven't got the time to post it up until now.. Whenever it is that I am posting this up. My thoughts are changing almost everyday so as long as I have not post this up, I will be editing it somehow.
__________

So from the title, yes this entry is going to be academic-related.

I have officially chosen the course that I want to take.

Bachelor in Science (Honours) Accounting and Finance (University of London)

My first choice was this because I was quite interested/attracted by accounting during my semesters 2&3 of my Diploma in Management Studies.

Recently I got "attracted" to other courses from UOL because they seemed easier, and they are my friends' choices. But awhile later I figured that the business courses, to me, are almost the same. Therefore I went back to Accounting & Finance.

My eyes are fixed on UOL because it's 100% examination based. Yes I know it will be difficult but I really don't like projects. So this might just be a better choice for me.

I am not you, you are not me, and we can't predict the future. So we really can't say which path is going to be better for who. The only thing we can do is take the step and see how it goes.

The other reason why I confirmed Accounting & Finance is because of what my mother thinks. She thinks that A&F has more job prospects in the future as compared to the rest of the degrees. But she kept telling me it's up to me and what I think is more interesting for me.

I decided to go ahead with A&F since it was my gut choice and my mother gave it the nod (kinda).

The last time I made a choice, disaster followed. So I think it's time I listened (although till now she still wants to let me choose).

Yeah. Since she approved A&F, I'm going ahead with it. And I will definitely get my accounting license (or something?) from ACCA no matter what.

Incoming! Another accountant (in our family) on the way!

A&F is Accounting and Finance okay. NOT Abercrombie & Fitch!
__________

Edit: Saw my brother's friend Alex on the way home from school the other day. He's in UOL BSc (Honours) Banking and Finance. Didn't ask him too much about the course because that isn't what I wanted. (I did ask if finance is difficult because I'll be taking that too.) Just asked him on the overall of studying under UOL.

He says it's very individualistic. Yeah I guess we all know that. 100% examination based. Aside from the fact that you have to study very hard, no projects = no groupings = you can do everything alone = it's going to be up to you if you want to make new friends or not = no conflicts within groups/friends.

Now I'm even more certain that I want UOL. Not that I want don't want to make new friends or whatever. It's just that I'm so mentally & physically tired from my past/current projects. It's like.. Always rushing for deadlines.

Yup. I guess I'm ready to post this up.

Caught Cheating!
BOO.

I "caught" my tutee copying answers for her homework!

Kinda.

Here's how it went:

I was marking her mathematics homework and the numbers were getting bigger. There was one thing I realised.. The wasn't a single working found in the chapter! This is suspicious enough because I have taught her for a few months now. I know her standards. She might be able to calculate the addition of 2-digit numbers but she'd start to have problems subtracting. So why isn't there any workings for the subtraction of 3-digit numbers?

Then I flipped to the back of the book for the answers. One reason was because I was lazy to do my mental calculations. The other was to check for signs of cheating. And guess what? 凡走過必留下痕跡. There were accidental markings made by pencil. I was very sure they weren't made by me because 1) it was my first time flipping to that page and 2) I was holding a red pen.

So you can say that I am almost 100% sure that she has been copying from the answer sheet. It wasn't her first time either.

I'm going to type our conversation below based on my memory!

Me: I'm going to ask you a question and I want you to answer me honestly. Did you or did you not copy from the answers from the back?

Tutee: No. (In the 'no?' kinda tone.)

Me: Are you sure? Because I have proof that you did.

Tutee: *Starts to show guilt*

Me: So did you copy?

Tutee: *Shakes head & avoids eye contact*

Me: Okay I'm going to show you how I know you've been copying.

Then I explained about the workings and her reply was that she did the workings on another piece of paper. I asked her to show me the paper and she said that she threw it away because she didn't know that I'd want it. Then I went on about the pencil markings on the answer sheet. She couldn't retaliate to this because although the markings were accidental, there was no other reason (other than attempting to copy) that she needs to flip to that particular page. Oh by the way, this particular page has the answers to the chapter that I gave her as homework? Coincidental? I don't think so.

I explained that I have taught her for quite some time now so I know her standards. I know what she can and cannot do. I even went psychological on her.. Or something like that. I told her that I have taught so many students (that's not quite true hahaha) that I know when my students did or did not copy their homework. At this point of time, she's got no more ideas/lies already. I even told her that I've been a student myself, I have copied answers before, so I won't scold her for doing this. I understand this but I want her to be honest about it. So I asked my first question again. And this time she nodded.

I was actually kinda afraid that she'd burst out in tears (because that's what would have happened to me if I were in her shoes haha) so I quickly asked her "Did I ever scold you for not completing your homework? I didn't right? Whenever you did not finish you homework I'd ask you to do during lesson right? So next time if you have a lot of homework from school and you can't finish my homework, it's okay. Just tell me. I won't scold you."

So after that I told her that I have to remove the answer sheets from her books. At the end of the lesson she asked if I'd tell her mother about this. I told her I wouldn't, although it's not her first time doing this. But if I catch her doing it one more time, I'd tell.

I think she wouldn't dare to do it again already because I can feel that her mother's pretty strict on her.

Anyways, I remember I told her I'm disappointed in her in some point of the story but I can't remember when. Think about it. She's only 8 this year and she's spinning lies like she did her workings on another piece of paper and threw it away. And she came up with this lie almost immediately. Sigh. Kids these days..

Yeah. That's roughly about all. From what I can remember.

CNY Shopping!
Wednesday 11 January 2012
BOO.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

LOL! Because my last entry was on Christmas 2011! So I think it'd be polite of me to wish everyone a Happy New Year first.

So... Lunar New Year is just round the corner! And therefore I went CNY shopping today!

While shopping I was thinking.. What kinda clothes should I get? Special ones for the New Year? Or just normal ones so that I can wear them to school?

In the end I decided to go for both. So today's loot is: a mini dress, a top & a skirt, a necklace and another top & cardigan which I haven't decide if I should include them in my 'CNY Shopping List' because they're too 'normal' hahaha.

I super love the cardigan that I got. It's in pink and white. Haven't got the time to take photo of it. Was thinking maybe I should stop buying makeup and put my focus on clothes. This is probably the first time I felt so happy purchasing a piece of cloth that I really like!

Not gonna promise to upload a photo of the cardigan because I always get too busy to do it after I promised.

And like I mentioned a few times (maybe I didn't mention here in this blog), I've got a $40 voucher from Sephora that I have to use this month and I need to spend $80 in order to use it. Which means I still have to spend $40! So I have to spend this $40 first before I can officially stop buying new makeup and start buying clothes. (Note: it's 'new makeup' which means replacement for finished products still applies!)

Okay that's what I wanted to blog about.

Lastly,

HAPPY 21ST BIRTHDAY TO NINETTE!
